Empowering our community through energy efficiency
At Energy Smart, we believe that a sustainable future starts at the community level. Our programs and initiatives are designed to educate, engage and empower residents to make informed decisions about energy use. By fostering collaboration among neighbors, local businesses and organizations, we aim to create a thriving, energy-efficient community that benefits everyone.
Schools across New Orleans partner with Energy Smart and Entergy New Orleans to provide elementary and middle school students with the chance to experience an educational event on the topics of energy efficiency, energy use and adopting wise energy habits – as well as take-home individual kits to start saving energy and money in their own homes.
Energy Smart is dedicated to helping trade allies build their workforce through a number of initiatives.
Career fairs
Energy Smart has organized in-person career fairs as well as a series of webinars which connect individuals interested in energy efficiency careers with companies seeking to develop the next generation of trade ally talent.
Advisory councils
Energy Smart has participated as a member of advisory councils for organizations such as the Louisiana Green Corps. The program has also advised community colleges on ways to enhance educational programming related to skills essential to trade ally success.
Profiles of energy efficiency professionals
Energy Smart has created profile cards of trade allies and facility directors which the program uses to help students and career seekers get a better understanding of the types of careers which help buildings reduce energy use. The Energy Smart staff assisted Dillard University with its successful application of the Department of Energy’s Historically Black College and Universities Clean Energy Education Prize based on expanding these career profiles into a book.

Entergy’s corporate social responsibility initiatives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
